George Omeir

George Omeir is a passionate educator and advocate for youth development with more than two decades of service in District of Columbia Public Schools. A Howard University alumnus and former collegiate baseball player, George began his career as a fourth-grade teacher in 1999. His drive to support students’ emotional and social growth led him to earn a Master of Social Work from Howard University in 2004. Since 2006, George has served as a School Social Worker, providing comprehensive social-emotional and behavioral support to students and families. As a founding member of the Field of Dreams program, George returns with renewed energy and purpose—to continue empowering young people through mentorship, character development, and teamwork.

Monica Mc Millian

Raised in Hampton, Virginia, Monica Mc Millian brings over 30 years of teaching experience and a lifelong passion for education. A proud graduate of Norfolk State University, Monica went on to earn two graduate degrees from Regent University. Currently in her 10th year at Browne Education Campus and her 14th year with DC Public Schools, Monica continues to inspire students with her enthusiasm, compassion, and dedication to their growth. Beyond the classroom, she is a devoted mother and grandmother—affectionately known as Nonna.

María E. Silva

María E. Silva is an Elementary Multilingual Learners teacher at Browne Education Campus, a role she has held since 2020. With a robust career spanning 16 years, María is a highly experienced educator, specializing in teaching both English and Spanish. Her passion lies in supporting multilingual students as they navigate language acquisition and academic success. Outside of the classroom, María is a dedicated sports enthusiast, with baseball and softball being her favorite pastimes.

Browne Education Campus, located in Northeast Washington, D.C., serves Pre-K through 8th grade students with a strong focus on academics, enrichment, and community. Under the leadership of Principal Shawna Dix, the school provides a safe and supportive environment where students can grow academically and socially. As a cornerstone of the community, Browne is dedicated to preparing students for future success while fostering curiosity, creativity, and resilience. With the addition of Fields of Dreams programming, students gain even more opportunities for after-school learning, enrichment, and personal growth.

Our Impact at Browne Education Center

Academic Achievement: Fields of Dreams staff work closely with Browne Education Center teachers to identify students who might benefit from additional academic support. We offer targeted tutoring sessions, homework help, and enrichment activities that reinforce classroom learning and improve academic performance.

Character Development: Our program emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and respect through engaging activities and sportsmanship opportunities. Students learn to collaborate effectively, make positive choices, and build strong social connections.

Physical Activity and Wellness: Fields of Dreams incorporates fun and interactive physical activities into the program. This helps students stay active, improve their health, and develop a positive attitude towards physical wellness.
